Patrick W. Horton is adjunct lecturer in music in music education at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
He previously taught band and music technology at the secondary level in Ohio and Indiana. With a passion for utilizing technology to reduce barriers to learning and creativity at all levels, he is interested in understanding the complex ways technology, creativity, and music learning are connected.
Horton has presented regionally, nationally, and internationally, and has articles published in the Journal of Research in Music Education and International Journal for Child-Computer Interaction.
In addition to his appointment to the Jacobs Music Education Department, Horton serves as a program administrator with the Arts and Music Programs for Education in Detention Centers supported by Northwestern University’s Center for Civic Engagement.
Horton earned a B.M.E. from the Ohio State University, an M.M. in music education from Ball State University, and a Ph.D. in music education from Northwestern University.
