The Jacobs School of Music offers more than 1,100 performances annually, many of which are free and open to the public. Through our outreach program with the Monroe County Community School district, students in grades 2-6 are exposed to dance, opera, and classical music.
Pre-College & Special Programs
Our Pre-College Programs offer children and high school students the opportunity to study with IU’s exceptional faculty, while our workshops and master classes provide guidance for university students or emerging artists.
Events & Performances
Throughout the year, Indiana University stages 7 operas and 3 ballets. There are 14 choral groups, 3 bands, and 6 orchestras, as well as chamber music, world music, new music, and early music. In addition, there are hundreds of student and faculty recitals each year.
Festivals
The IU Summer Music Festival
Each summer, the Jacobs School of Music offers a complete academic semester and a music festival rich with staged productions, as well as orchestral, jazz, band, chamber, and solo concerts, all performed by internationally renowned guests, faculty, and world-class students. The combination of such breadth of academic and performance opportunities makes it the most active summer collegiate music program in North America.
