Instrumental Conducting

Indiana University has one of the major programs in instrumental conducting in the nation. A select number of students pursue master's or doctoral degrees in instrumental conducting with IU's internationally known faculty members in this area. Instrumental conducting students also work with well-known guest conductors who are invited to IU each year to conduct concerts and selected opera productions. Students have exceptional opportunities for conducting experience at the country's largest music school, which has six orchestras and produces eight fully-staged operas each year.

Graduates of the program hold key positions as assistant conductors or conductors in Dallas, Atlanta, Kansas City, Colorado, Winnipeg, and Freiburg and Wuppertal, Germany, among other places.
