Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
After a review of your application materials, the department will determine whether an interview is to be offered.
In addition to the materials required on the general graduate application, applicants should submit GRE General Test scores and a formal research paper or thesis on an analytical or historical subject. Non-native speakers also must submit a TOEFL score of at least 84 for admission to the MA program and 100 for admission to the PhD program.
All application materials must be submitted by the November 15th deadline.
The Musicology Department now offers the option of direct entry to the Ph.D. program for highly qualified students who have completed B.A. or B.M. degrees.
Master of Arts in Musicology and Master of Library Science from the Department of Information and Library Science (M.A./ M.L.S.)
When applying to a dual-degree program, you need to submit separate applications to each department. The admissions processing for each area is handled separately. You will need to submit two separate applications to the IU Graduate School (one application for the M.A. in Musicology and one application for the M.L.S. in Library Science) Apply Online Here and one application to the Jacobs School of Music.
