February 29 - March 1, 2008

Admission to most programs in the IU Jacobs School of Music requires an audition and in some cases an interview. Auditions and interviews are held on three weekends each year: one in January, one in February, and one in March. All auditions are held on the Bloomington campus. Audition and interview dates are scheduled only after students have completed both the IU application for admission and the IU School of Music Audition Application.

To arrange an audition/interview, fill out an Audition Application. We will make every effort to honor the specific date you request. However, it is possible that you will be assigned another date. A confirmation letter and/or e-mail will be your official notification. Applicants for January admission should follow the instructions for an ad hoc audition or submit a final audition tape.

All auditions are held on campus in Bloomington, Indiana. The Indiana University School of Music does not offer regional auditions. Application and audition dates and times may vary, depending upon the degree sought and area of study.

On the weekend of your audition, you will be scheduled for an audition or interview between 9 a.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday. Please make your travel plans after you receive official confirmation of your audition/interview date and time. Because of faculty availability and the number of applicants, it may not be possible to honor special requests for particular days or times during the weekend.

Completed applications received by the December 1, 2007, deadline will receive priority treatment. If your application is received after the deadline, you may not receive the audition/interview date of your choice, and you may be at a disadvantage for School of Music scholarship consideration. Each request to reschedule any portion of your interview/audition will result in a $62 rescheduling fee. Make checks payable to Indiana University School of Music.
