As an enrolled student at Indiana University, you now have the opportunity to play your instrument for 2 of our most exciting sports teams on campus - women's volleyball and women's basketball. Members of the class "X410 - Athletic Pep Bands" will have the opportunity to play (for academic credit) at all home volleyball matches and all home women's basketball games! In addition to these home matches, members will be eligible to travel with these teams as they compete in the Big 10 and NCAA tournaments!
Members will receive a complimentary t-shirt to wear at volleyball matches in the fall semester, along with 1 hour of academic credit. Those students who wish to continue in the spring semester will receive 1 hour of credit for playing at women's basketball games.
In order to receive your 1 hour of credit, members will rehearse 1 time per week for 1 hour - Sunday nights at 7:00 p.m. - Marching Hundred Hall (corner of Fee lane and Matlock Road). These rehearsals will be led by Professor Dave Woodley from the IU Department of Bands and Pam Holt, Crabb Band Director from the Department of Bands.
There is NO audition required to join the Athletic Pep Band class - we accept all players on the following instruments:
piccolo/flute - clarinet - alto and tenor sax - mellophone (horn) - trumpet - trombone - baritone - sousaphone - drumset - electric bass (mellophones, baritones, sousaphones, bass amplifier and drumset will be supplied by the IU Department of Bands).
To enroll, simply sign up for class "X410" in the School of Music - then choose "Section 1" for volleyball band (fall semester) and "Section 1" for women's basketball band (spring semester). This is TUITION-FREE credit!
