The Eulogy at the Baltimore Funeral

We just learned of Tommy Dunn's death and join you in mourning his departure. What a gift he was to so many, and for so many years. He will be missed.
Love to you,

John Nelson, conductor, France

I'm so sorry to hear of this great loss. Meeting Tom was one of the wonderful bonuses of my brief residency at IU some years ago. Just this last summer I thought of him while purchasing a book he and I had discussed at that time! I know that everyone there will miss him greatly.

Jon Washburn, conductor, Canada

I just read in shock the announcement from Gwyn about Thomas Dunn. I don’t know what to say, except how terribly terribly sorry I am that this has happened. I thought he was stable & doing ok . . .My thoughts & support go out to you because he was so dear to your hearts & through you I had warm contacts with him as well, having talked to him at the recent choral concerts barely two weeks ago that Bill & Alfred (Calabrese) conducted.Sending my love, deep sympathy, & concern for you at this time of loss of this amazing spirit.

with much love,

Marianne Kielian-Gilbert, Professor of Music Theory, Indiana University

I heard this sad news earlier today, and I wish to express my gratitude and reverence for Dr. Dunn, a person of increadible kindness, erudition and expertise, always ready to share with everyone one his experience and love. I see him as a great inspiration of life, and musicianship and I have to thank God for the opportunity to have met him. I'll be with all of you in my thoughts,

All the best,

Iara Fricke Matte, conductor and IU alumna, Brazil

Carolina Gamboa-Hoyos, conductor and IU alumna, Colombia

I see Dr. Dunn's face so clearly in my mind and his droll humor makes me smile.
All my best to everyone there. I wish I could attend; my heart will be there.

Lynne Morrow, conductor and IU alumna, California
