Midwest Composers Symposium – University of Iowa School of Music
February 9-10, 2008
CALL FOR SCORES: CHAMBER WORKS
The 2007-08 Midwest Composers Symposium will take place at University of Iowa School of Music from February 9-10, 2008.
All IU composers (currently enrolled and planning to attend IU in the spring of 2008) are invited to submit
no more than 2 scores (written during
residency at IU) for performance consideration at the Symposium. Selected
composers are responsible to provide IU players to perform their works.
In order to involve as many IU composers as possible, and to limit the total
number of performers, pieces with small instrumentation and shorter
durations (solo works, smaller chamber combinations, pieces for electronic
tape plus performer, or for electronic tape alone, etc.) will be favored;
works for 4-6 instruments are particularly appropriate. Indicate on your
score the duration of the piece; if it is a multi-movement work; if any movements can be performed separately.
The deadline is Friday,
November 16th
, 2007. Submissions that do not meet the deadline will not receive special consideration. Please submit scores to P. Q. Phan in the School of Music Mail Room by Noon, on Friday,
November 16th, 2007.
