Kevin Watson teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Psychology of Music, Music Teaching and Learning, and Measurement and Evaluation. As an instrumental music education specialist, Dr. Watson has previously served as an Adjunct Lecturer of Music Education at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and DePauw University, a Visiting Lecturer in Jazz Studies at the Community College of Rhode Island, and a band director in the public schools of Massachusetts, where he conducted concert, marching and jazz ensembles.
As a professional saxophonist, Dr. Watson has performed with artists ranging from Grammy winner Sandi Patti to Rock & Roll Hall-of-Fame member Bo Diddley, among many others. He has been awarded the Chancellor’s Fellowship from Indiana University, the Berklee College of Music Professional Music Scholarship and the Kingston Ontario Symphony Association Scholarship. As a member of the Rick Russell Band, he was nominated for a Boston Music Award in the category of Best Blues Act.
Dr. Watson is a member of MENC: The National Association for Music Education and the Indiana Music Educators Association. His current research focuses on the areas of jazz education and music teacher education.
