Charles Schmidt

Professor of Music

Charles P. Schmidt is professor and coordinator of graduate studies in music education. He is a native of Rochester, NY and holds degrees from Florida State University, the Eastman School of Music and Indiana University. He taught instrumental music in the public schools of New York State and has been on the faculty Indiana University Jacobs School of Music since 1983. He has published over 35 articles in refereed journals and has directed over 25 dissertations. He currently serves on the editorial committees of The Journal of Research in Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Journal of Band Research, and serves as a reviewer for the Suncoast Music Education Research Symposium. His research interests focus on social psychology of music.
