 Organizations

MENC--The Music Educators National Conference has a collegiate chapter at Indiana University. Guest speakers and master classes help music education majors explore topics of interest and current issues in music education. Membership in the IUMENC chapter provides opportunities for professional development, leadership and social events. For more information, contact Katherine Strand, faculty advisor.

ACDA - The American Choral Directors Association has a student chapter at IU. Guest speakers and clinicians are invited to inform choral conducting and choral teaching practice. Membership in the IU ACDA chapter provides opportunities for professional development and networking, leadership and learning. For more information, contact Patrice Madura Ward-Steinman, faculty advisor.

PMER - The Philosophy of Music Education Review is published twice yearly, in the fall and spring.  It is edited by Estelle R. Jorgensen Contact Dr. Jorgensen about PMER.

ASTA - The American String Teachers Association has a student chaper at IU. Regular meetings and clinics help young string teachres prepare for their teaching careers. For more information, contact Brenda Brenner, faculty advisor.

The Indiana Directory of Music Teachers is published annually each fall, and lists music teachers in schools, colleges, and universities in Indiana.  The cost for the Directory is $20.00.
