How to Apply

Undergraduate Admissions

Entrance to the Jacobs School of Music is based on a successful audition in the student's performing medium, an interview with the music education faculty, and admission to Indiana University and are arranged through the Office of Music Admissions.  Each student must also take a test of basic musicianship. Freshmen or undergraduate transfer students interested in studying music education at Indiana University need to file two separate applications:

1.  The Freshman or Transfer Application for Admission to Indiana University may be obtained from the Office of Admissions.   If you would like to obtain more information, contact the Office of Admissions,  300 N. 2.  The School of Music Application is available online only . Please visit the music website: www.music.indiana.edu for information regarding the application, audition/interview and admission process and to apply online. The School of Music Application may be obtained from the Indiana University School of Music, Office of Music Admissions and Financial Aid   MU 101, 1201 East Third St. Bloomington, IN 47401.

Graduate Admissions

All persons with a bachelor’s degree in music from an accredited college, university, conservatory, or its demonstrated equivalent are eligible to apply for admission to the Graduate Division of the School of Music, which administers the graduate degrees in Music Education. Click here for admissions information to graduate study at the Jacobs School of Music.
