ETDemo 3.0
ETDemo 3.0, a free demo version of ETDrill, is now available for download.
Features
The demo version of ETDrill has the same features as the full version with the following limitations:
- The Intervals drill uses only major thirds, perfect fourths and perfect fifths.
- The Pitch Patterns drill is limited to short, diatonic, stepwise examples.
- The Melodies drill has a limited amount of dictation melodies.
- The Isolated Sonorities drill uses only root position and first inversion major triads, minor triads, and major-minor sevenths.
- The Harmonic Progression is limited to progressions using I, IV and V(7) chords in root position.
Requires Windows 95 or later.
Downloading Instructions:
- Download and open EtDemoZip.exe (approximately 2.2 MB / 10 minutes with a 28.8K modem)
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- In order for the demo to work correctly, you may be asked to restart your computer once installation is complete.
- A shortcut to ETDemo will be placed in the Start Menu in Programs / Indiana University ETDrill 3.0.
- In some situations, an error in the installer fails to properly register the fonts. If you see strange characters, close ETDrill and do the following:
- Open Control Panel
- Open Fonts
- Double-click Bach-ETDrill and click Done
- Double-click on CS Times and click Done
- If you have any difficulty during the downloading or installing process, contact mustheor@indiana.edu.
- NOTE: Before installing the full version of ETDrill, it is recommended that you uninstall the demo version.

ETDrill 3.1 Patch 1

ETDrill 3.1 Patch 1 fixes problems with the MIDI->Change Instrument Dialog. It now changes to instruments other than General MIDI correctly through Bank Select messages. This is for version 3.1.00.000.ETDrill 3.1 MUST be installed before installing this patch.

ETDrill 3.0 Patch 1

ETDrill Patch 1 fixes some problems with the Sonority Drill. This is for versions 3.0.02.000 and earlier.

The Patch is available in two versions: ETPatch1.exe (1.2 MB / 5 minutes with a 28.8K modem) includes the new User Guide.

If you already have the User Guide (you can test this by looking in Start | Programs | Indiana University ETDrill 3.0 or in your ETDrill Help menu) you can download the smaller version of the patch: ETPatch1Small.exe (712 KB / 3 minutes with a 28.8K modem).

Important .dll's
- In order to run older versions of ETDrill 3.0 or ETDemo 3.0, you may need the following files: mfc42.dll (932 KB / 4 minutes with a 28.8K modem), msvcrt.dll (271 KB / 1.5 minutes)or msvcirt.dll (76 KB / 30 seconds).
Note: the current versions of ETDrill and ETDemo (3.0.02.000 and later) already include these files.
- In most cases, these files will already be on your computer. If you are not sure, you can search for mfc42.dll, msvcrt.dll or msvcirt.dll using Find. Another place to look is on your Windows installation CD. If you do not have this file, you may download it here.
- Once the file has been downloaded, you will need to place it in your system folder (C:\Windows\System for Windows 95/98 and C:\Winnt\System32 for Windows NT) or you can specify that it be downloaded directly to your system folder in the download dialog.
