T109—“Other Exciting Links”

If you have an idea for a link, or if you think one of these links is not exciting enough, then let your professor know!

Click here to see the best book for T109 that you aren’t required to purchase: The Norton Manual of Musical Notation. It’s also available in the IU Music Library.

Click here for a copy of the Course Progress Log (which is also attached to the printed syllabus) so that you can see how many points each assignment is worth AND track your own progress in the class!

Rusty’s Jukebox is an online transcription tool developed by Rusty Jones. It’s also the basis for Homework Project 3 in this course. The jukebox requires Shockwave, which is a free plug-in that may be downloaded here.

The Rhythmic Cell Engine provides a way for students to practice identifying short rhythmic units (cells) to aid in developing dictation skills. It’s also the basis for Homework Project 1 in this course! It should be useful to anyone who wants to improve rhythmic dictation and performance skills.
