Course Description of Class Voice V101

The objective of this course is to familiarize participants with the basic skills needed for successful performance: vocal technique, music reading, and artistic presentation. This course will also assist participants in developing habits for successful performances, including topics such as practicing techniques, music analysis, vocal health, research, and repertoire choices. Students are required to perform three songs from memory during the course of the semester. The individual teacher will determine additional coursework.

Attendance Policy: Attendance is required at all class sessions. A limited number of excused absences are allowed for illness (must have doctor's note), emergency, applicable religious holidays, or conflicts with university-sponsored performances or events required for the student's major. Absence requests due to religious holidays and required university-sponsored events must be presented in advance. Unexcused absences will quickly lower your grade, and absences on quiz or performance days as well as any private session days are strongly discouraged.
