The IU Ballet Department offers ballet classes for levels Beginner through Advanced to students across the IU campus.
Teachers are from the IU Ballet Department's Majors' Program, who learn about ballet pedagogy as an important element to their education in the field of dance.
Classes take place in the Ballet Department from 8am to 11am and 5:45pm to 8:30pm. To see a list of classes offered, click here.
Current semester schedules can be obtained through the Schedule of Classes and are listed under the Jacobs School of Music. For undergraduates, the course is MUS-J100. For graduate students, it is MUS-J700. The ballet department does not offer a minor in ballet.
There is no audition or placement class for elective ballet classes. If necessary, students will be guided by teachers to switch to an appropriate level class for their capability after the first class of the term.
All students wishing to participate in any elective ballet class must officially register, as the Jacobs School of Music does not allow auditing of MUS-J100 or MUS-J700.
