Michael Wade

Michael Wade is a master’s student in choral conducting at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Prior to beginning his studies at Indiana, he served as choral director for the Trumansburg Central School District in upstate New York, where he taught choirs grades 5-12, class guitar, and general music. In addition, he was the conductor of the Young Men’s Chorus of Ithaca, part of the greater Ithaca Children’s Chorus.

Over the summer of 2012, Michael acted as Vocal Program Coordinator and conductor for the Intermediate Division of Ithaca College’s Summer Music Academy, where he taught classes in music theory, music theatre performance, and conducted the All-Academy Choir. In the realm of theatre, he has worked extensively with theatre company Running to Places, where he served as music director for over a dozen musical productions, orchestral conductor, and rehearsal pianist.

Other engagements have included vocal coach & pianist for Ithaca College’s Introduction to Music Theatre for High School students, and collaborative pianist for the Ithaca College Graduate Choir. He has also been involved with several Area All-State and All-County festivals throughout the state of New York. During his time at Ithaca College, he worked as a piano collaborator for several recitals, musicals, and operas, including a concert performance of Dana Wilson’s new opera, Wolf by the Ears.

He received his Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Ithaca College, where he studied conducting with Janet Galván, Lawrence Doebler, and Stephen Peterson, piano with Jennifer Hayghe, and voice with Marc Webster, David Parks, and Carl Johengen.
