Goldford
Louis Goldford Named Finalist in ASCAP/SEAMUS Compeition

Louis Goldford has been selected as one of four finalists for the ASCAP / SEAMUS Student Commissioning Competition for his trio The Fiction of Time Destroyed ('Desbaratada la Ficción del Tiempo'), which will be performed at the 2016 Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS) Conference at Georgia Southern University. Finalists will be honored and winners announced at the upcoming conference, February 11-13.

Matthew Recio to Receive West Coast Performance of String Quartet

Matthew Recio's work Clutch of Venus for String Quartet was recently named the winner of the Quartet Nouveau composition competition. Quartet Nouveau is a California based string quartet that is currently the quartet in residence with the California Chamber Orchestra. This work will receive a performance this Spring in San Diego. This work was also recognized this past Fall at the IMTA (Indiana Music Teacher's Association) Music Festival for being the first place winner in their composition competition for the Young Professional Artist Division.

 
 
 
Osberg
Kimberly Osberg's Score to be Featured in Macbeth Production

Kimberly Osberg has been commissioned by the IU Department of Theatre, Contemporary Dance, and Drama to compose an original 12-channel electronic score for their 2016 production of Macbeth. The show runs February 5th through the 13th in Bloomington, Indiana. More information can be found on the production website.

Texu Kim (DM '15) Enjoys Multiple Premieres

Texu Kim (DM '15) had an American premiere of his piece Hommage for Ancient Anonymous Fiddlers for two violins on Friday 1/22 by Portland-based ensemble fEARnoMUSIC as part of its 'Locally Sourced Sounds' series. In addition to the upcoming premiere of his piece Lotus Voice by the IU New Music Ensemble, his new work Practice Room Rhapsody will be premiered by Ensemble Mise-En in NYC on Friday 2/19, as part of its 'Connections: West/Midwest' concert. Lastly, he has curated the second 'New Music for Young Audience' concdrt by Ensemble 212 in NYC on Saturday 2/20, of which the program includes his Frattalissimo!! and doctoral student Phillip Sink's Flowers of Salt.

Jihyun Kim (MM '15) Anticipates Solo Piano Performances
Jihyun's piano piece, Three Etudes has been selected for a performance at the 2016 USF New-Music Festival. It will take place March 4-5, 2016 at the University of South Florida’s School of Music in Tampa, FL. Additionally, Three Etudes has been chosen for the Juventas Ensemble's Call for scores 2015.

Freund
Don Freund Featured on New CD Release

James Pellerite’s Native American Flute CD “Mystic Voices Soaring” on Albany Records begins with Don Freund’s Medicine Wheel. Pellerite is joined by singers Arwen Myers and Laura Thoreson to perform Freund’s set­tings of 5 poems by Bloom­ing­ton poet Emily Bobo. Three of these songs can be heard (and seen in scrolling score) on YouTube. Additionally, Freund’s Jug Blues & Fat Pickin’ was performed in Carnegie Hall, NYC on Nov. 27th by the Florida Gulf Coast University Wind Orchestra conducted by Rod Chesnutt.
