Amin Sharifi's select chamber music released by Petrichor Records
Newly Released A Portrait of the Composer as a Young Man (title inspired by Irish writer James Joyce’s first novel) is an album of Amin Sharifi’s select chamber music composed from 2013 to 2016, performed and recorded by members of Pierrot-Tehran New Music Ensemble, Breakout Ensemble and solo artists in Germany, the U.S. and Sharifi’s home, Iran. This album could be considered the musical equivalent of Künstlerroman, German for "artist's novel" —a narrative about a young artist's serious explorations and growth toward artistic maturity. The album is now available on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon MP3, Apple Music, Youtube Music, CDBaby, etc. More information about the album and Sharifi's music on www.masharifi.com

Patricia Wallinga Directs New Production of Ghost Quartet
The University Players, Indiana University's undergraduate student-run theater company, will stage an all-new production of Dave Malloy's theatrical concept album Ghost Quartet in April. The show tells a story spanning seven centuries and a diverse collection of influences, from Arabian Nights and Thelonious Monk to Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen Sondheim; four actors play all of the many characters and instruments involved. As music director, Wallinga has created an entirely new arrangement based on the flexible score provided by the composer and tailored to the talents of this production's cast. Performances are April 7 and 8 in the Hoagy Carmichael Room in Morrison Hall.
