IU Vocal Jazz Ensemble

The IU Vocal Jazz Ensemble is the premiere vocal jazz group in the Jacobs School of Music.
Programming includes arrangements and compositions culled from the most challenging and sophisticated repertoire in the vocal jazz idiom, ranging from bop to swing to big band, to R&B, as well as current and contemporary charts.
An emphasis on solo singing and improvisation is a vital part of the ensemble experience, and student writing and arranging is encouraged.
The ensemble is open to any Indiana University student (by audition) and participation is required for Jazz Voice majors.
