AN EXCELLENT PLATFORM FOR ARTISTS

LinkedIn is a powerful platform for musicians and artists as they network with alumni, professional colleagues, mentors, and new creative collaborators.

YOU CAN FIND COLLEAGUES WHERE YOU ARE
LinkedIn identifies contacts by geographic area, instrument, area of expertise, alma mater, and more.

If you’re moving to New York, keywords help you locate your tribe—then reach out! If you “follow” the Jacobs School of Music page (more than 1,000 members) and the Indiana University Bloomington page (more than 234,000 members), you can instantly connect with JSoM alums. You’ll be amazed who you find!

TOP TIPS

  • Connect first with classmates, faculty, former students, advisors, former bandmates, your parents’ colleagues [they have a vested interest in your success and may have connections that can help you!]

  • Take the time to send a short personalized invitation to connect. Here’s a fun infographic on how to build your network in 5 minutes a day.

  • Participate in relevant groups! Asking questions and responding on discussion threads can be of great use. We have a group specifically for Jacobs School of Music students and alumni and we encourage you to join and contribute.
