INTRODUCTION

The 2009 IU Summer Music Festival, with over 50 performances, takes place from mid-June through mid-August on the Indiana University Bloomington campus.

Featured events include the collegiate premiere of the Tony Award-winning musical The Light in the Piazza by Adam Guettel and three concerts by the virtuosic Festival Orchestra, with conductors David Robertson, Mario Venzago, and Giancarlo Guerrero.

An international chamber music series presents performances by the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, the Biava Quartet, the Weiss-Kaplan-Newman Trio, pianist Menahem Pressler, violinist Sarah Kapustin, and others. A piano recital series will feature Hans Boepple, Ruth Morrow, Read Gainsford, and Jonathan Biss.

Enjoy three free summer band concerts, a percussion series, and more special events.
