Ways to Give

Dean Richards instructs a student
“As a member of the Dean’s Circle, you will have an enormous impact on our students, enabling them to further shape the cultural life of our nation.”
—Gwyn Richards, Dean

Thank you for your interest in the Indiana University School of Music. Giving to the School of Music—and specifying how you want your gift to be used—can be done in a number of ways, such as:

Endowed Gifts
An endowment provides for the continuing support of the IU School of Music through scholarships, fellowships, professorships, and chairs.

Operation Support
The opportunity exists for the support of particular productions of the IU Opera Theater, the IU Ballet Theater, a chamber music series or another individual performance.  Please call the Development Office at 812-855- 4656 or email Melissa Korzec at mkorzec@indiana.edu for more information

Join an Annual Giving Society
Sometimes an opportunity comes along that hasn’t been planned for or anticipated.  Click here to learn how annual gifts to the Dean’s Circle and the Founders Circle provide that important support to be used for those opportunities that we hadn’t expected, but which make the difference for the School of Music.

To find out more, contact the Office of Development at (812) 855-4737.

Endowed Gifts

An endowed gift exists in perpetuity, may be named for the donor or someone the donor wishes to honor, and can ensure enduring support for the university and its students and faculty.

Gifts to the Operation of the School of Music

The School of Music, like conservatories across the United States, faces significant economic challenges in maintaining the quality of its operation. While costs continue to rise, we do not expect significant increases in either appropriations from the state, or from tuition revenue in the foreseeable future.

To complement support from the state, we are turning to the private sector. The bulk of our endowment is directed toward scholarships, although a number of chairs have recently been pledged. The school, therefore, runs an annual campaign, to seek gifts that are not restricted for specific purposes, but are designated to be used at the discretion of the dean, in the best interests of the school. Such monies can take a variety of forms—from annual gifts, to endowed unrestricted funds. With imagination, and the support of our friends, the possibilities are limitless.
