L'Italiana in Algeri by Gioachino Rossini on Sept. 25, 26 and Oct. 2,3 at 8pm

Leaving from the Dock of the Bey

Set in 18th-century Algiers
In this dramma giocoso, Mustafa, the Bey of Algeria, has grown tired of his wife, Elvira, and sends the captain of his guard to find an Italian wife for him. The captain finds a group of Italians, including Isabella, shipwrecked on the shore and brings them to the Bey’s court, where Isabella is reunited with Lindoro, her fiancé, now a slave. After much maneuvering to escape the designing clutches of the Bey, the lovers sail back to Italy with their cohorts. Realizing that he has been outsmarted, Mustafa forgives his departing captives and returns to Elvira.
