AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Currently seeking trombone, tuba, bassoon, cello or string bass 

Tales & Scales (www.talesandscales.org) is the nation's only musictelling ensemble. Since 1986, our troupe of musicians has collaborated with outstanding composers, writers, directors and choreographers to create innovative interdisciplinary works in our mission to ignite the imaginations of children and family audiences. Using minimal sets and costumes, our uniquely-talented performers combine music, story, theatre and creative movement in their dynamic presentations.  From its home-base in Evansville, Indiana, the troupe tours the United States performing in schools, concert halls, performing arts centers, and with symphony orchestras.  Tales & Scales members are actively involved in workshops, school residencies, and an annual summer camp.

We are seeking accomplished musicians with:
-         An interest in both performing for and working with children
-         Outgoing personalities and a desire to explore unique performance techniques (experience in other disciplines a plus, but not necessary)
-         Strong convictions about the importance of arts education
-         The ability to commit to a rigorous training, rehearsal process, and a full time touring schedule
-         The ability to relocate to Evansville and commence work on June 15th

Compensation:
-         Starting Salary $20,000/year
-         Two weeks paid vacation plus 12 paid holidays
-         Health, Life and optional Dental Benefits
-         Tour expenses (hotel, travel, per diem) paid by company.

      - DATES:   April 12, 13, 19, 24, 25 26, 2008---will also make arrangements beyond these dates

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Audition Repertoire for  Trombonist:

1)  One traditional solo (single movement) – memorized
2)  One contemporary solo (single movement) - memorized
3)  Tales & Scales excerpts – not necessary to memorize, to be played with Tales & Scales personnel
4)      Tales & Scales script excerpt – not necessary to memorize, to be read with Tales & Scales personnel
5)  Prepare, memorize and tell a story.  You may use original material, or the text of an existing story or poem.  To the best of your ability, integrate speaking, movement and music into the telling of your story.
