--> THURSDAY, APRIL 7: TANIA LEÓN'S ATWOOD SONGS TO BE FEATURED AT THE WOMEN IN MUSIC FESTIVAL. Tania's song cycle set upon poems by Margaret Atwood will be performed by pianist Sylvie Beaudette and soprano Eileen Strempel, who first premiered and recorded the work in 2007. Two performances will take place: One at at CUNY "Music in Midtown" noontime concert at 1 p.m. and one at Union College, Emerson Auditorium, Schenectady, NY, at 8 pm. The performance is presented as part of Women in Music Festival, launched by the Eastman School of Music and celebrating women involved in all aspects of music.
--> MONDAY, APRIL 11: SYMPHONY SPACE WILL PRESENT TANIA LEÓN WITH THE SECOND ANNUAL ACCESS TO THE ARTS AWARD. Each spring, Symphony Space pays tribute to the artists, philanthropists, and others who share in its dedication to providing high-quality arts programming to a wide range of audiences. Tania will be honored along with author E. L. Doctorow, and composer/performer Arturo O'Farrill. The gala will be held at Three Sixty in TriBeca at 6:30 p.m.. Click here or more information.
