- Provides training and support for administrators, faculty and
staff in the use of customized and commercial software applications.

Provides general technical assistance and training to faculty,
staff and students responsible for departmental Web pages that
reside on the School’s webserver found at: www.music.indiana.edu.
Additionally, provides the following services
to Jacobs School of Music departments:
- Analyses, designs, implements, and maintains the Jacobs School
of Music Web site.
- Creates audio/video/Flash/multimedia content for Web site
using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Macromedia products,
etc.
- Assists and guides departmental staff responsible for web
content as they require technical assistance on the pages they
maintain.
- Clarifies the University Web Policies and Procedures through
ad-hoc training sessions, workshops, and briefings.
- Facilitates communication and collaboration among JSoM departments
through the Web Advisory Subcommittee of the Information Technology
Policy Committee and the use of listservs.
- Represents the JSoM at institutional-wide web related meetings.
- Provides user account administration.
- Designs, develops, tests, documents and maintains existing
and new pages on the School’s website.
- Assists faculty and staff with associated systems, such as
event calendar, course evaluation, and other content management
systems (Copenhagen).
- Assists with new Web designs.

Provides the following services to Jacobs School of Music departments:
- Provides leadership and guidance
in the hardware acquisition process.
- Assists in planning new hardware configurations
and purchases.
- Investigates and evaluate new hardware
and software products.
- Serves as a point of contact with vendors.
- Provides pre-purchase consulting for capital
budget planning.
- Installs new hardware and software.
- Disposes of retired hardware.
- Maintains computer inventory lists.
- Coordinates with the Jacobs School of Music Facilities office
to maintain inventory in the CAMS system.
- Supports
desktop “infrastructure,” e.g. operating systems.
Provides software support for faculty, staff and students; when necessary
refers users to other campus consulting resources.
- Responds to requests to diagnose problems and makes appropriate
referrals for operating system and applications software issues.
- Educates
and assists users in “backup and restore” processes.
- Educates
and assists users in virus protection software and processes, and assist with
the eradication of viruses where necessary.
- Alerts
the Jacobs School community about desktop security situations and provides
prompt guidance.
- Provides basic network
management.
- Advises/assists users with network security
- Provides
the first level resolution of network issues.
- Contacts
UITS Telecommunications for 2nd level resolution of network issues.
- Manages
IP addresses, remote and campus network access processes.
- Upon
notification, investigates possible security problems.

Phil's primary position is to provide leadership
and overall management of the music library, including oversight
for public services, technical services, management of library
collections, and supervision and evaluation of staff. In coordination
with these responsibilities he also:
- Manages and coordinates the use of technology (computing,
recording/audio-video, networked information resources, telecommunications)
at the Jacobs School of Music.
- Assists, plans with, and guides academic and administrative
departments in their use of information, computing, telecommunications
and audio/video technology.
- Supervises and coordinates the work of the Music Information
Technology Services Department.
- Prepares and monitors strategic plans, budgets, and vendor
contracts.
- Acts as JSoM's liaison to other University technology
departments and represents JSoM on technology- related committees.
- Works with faculty, staff, and students to ensure appropriate
level of technology in classrooms, studios, offices and labs.
- Collaborates with faculty on the development of technology-based
curricula.
- Oversees the development of non-curricular training
courses, workshops, and seminars in topics relating to administrative
and academic uses of technology.

Adam Wead

Adam's position is split with the
University Libraries. Fifty percent of his time is dedicated
to supporting library staff workstations and applications. He provides
the following services to Jacobs School of Music departments:
- Interfaces with the UITS Student Technology Centers staff to
ensure proper installation and support for music applications
on the 130 publicly accessible workstations in the William & Gayle
Cook Music Library.
- Provides support for the technology installed in JSoM classrooms.
- Provides software support for music related applications and
MIDI hardware.
- Provides Macintosh support to JSoM faculty and staff.
- Maintains the Faculty Research Lab in M364.
- Assists faculty wishing to integrate technology into their
courses.
