AUER Workshop: Then and Now
The Edward AUER Workshop began as a Chopin Class more than 16 years ago with a single teacher. Now there will be almost 20 internationally active musicians joining the AUER workshop to guide and inspire our participants.
Since 2015, the AUER workshop has offered ONLINE participation and auditing. We welcome anybody who is interested from all over the world!
First place winner(s) will be invited to the 2018 AUER Workshop to perform a solo recital. This year, 2016 winners Yoon Sun Shin and Seungjin Han will come to Bloomington to perform.
As announced above, the 2017 Edward AUER Summer Piano Workshop will present all 5 Beethoven Piano Concertos with five different soloists. They will include the Workshop’s coordinator, Junghwa Moon Auer, playing the first concerto, Peter Bithell performing the second, the winner of the Workshop competition will be presented playing the third concerto, Jerome Lowenthal will perform the G major, and Workshop Director Edward Auer will play the “Emperor" Concerto. The other soloists will be announced shortly. JSoM conducting professor Arthur Fagen will conduct these special concerts. This year just one soloist will be chosen through the concerto competition. Those wishing to compete must send a recording for pre-screening. The competition proper will be held at the workshop. The repertoire is Beethoven concerto No. 3.
