
Orla McDonagh, 2013 Adjunct Faculty
Orla McDonagh is on the faculty of the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, Ireland, where she currently teaches Piano and Musicianship. Originally from Dublin, McDonagh came to the US to study music, graduating with performance degrees from the Juilliard School and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. After completing her doctoral residency in Indiana, McDonagh was appointed Director of the Piano Program at Lewis & Clark College (Portland, OR). She spent nine years at Lewis & Clark College, where she taught piano lessons and performance classes in addition to courses in Music Theory, Aural Skills, Piano Literature and Piano Pedagogy. While residing in Oregon, she performed regularly with contemporary groups "Third Angle" and "fEARnoMUSIC" as well as with the Lewis & Clark College Faculty New Music Ensemble Friends of Rain, and was a frequent adjudicator, master class clinician and pre-concert lecturer throughout the Northwest. With appearances in Europe, the U.S. and Canada, McDonagh is an active soloist, chamber musician and contemporary music practitioner. She maintains a permanent cello/piano duo with her sister, Irish cellist Ailbhe McDonagh, with whom she performs widely. She has served on the adjunct faculty of the Indiana University Summer Piano Academy since 1999.
