Orla McDonagh, 2014 Adjunct Faculty
Dr. Orla McDonagh is the Head of Faculty for Musicianship at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, Ireland. Originally from Dublin, McDonagh holds piano performance degrees from the Juilliard School for the Performing Arts and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Prior to her appointment at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dr. McDonagh was Director of Piano at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR where she taught piano lessons and performance classes in addition to courses in Music Theory, Aural Skills, Piano Literature and Piano Pedagogy. With appearances in Europe, the U.S. and Canada, McDonagh is an active soloist, chamber musician and contemporary music practitioner. She maintains a permanent cello/piano duo with her sister, Irish cellist Ailbhe McDonagh and is a founding member of The Belisama Trio. McDonagh is a member of the EU working group for quality assurance in Music Higher Education on behalf of the Association of European Conservatoires and is a frequent adjudicator, extern examiner and master teacher within the EU region. Dr. McDonagh has been on the adjunct faculty of the Indiana University Summer Piano Academy since 1999.
