Welcome to the I.U. Children's Choir 

Fall Semester: Dates TBA

2013-2014 looks to be another exciting year for IUCC. Plans include participation in two IU Opera performances and programs throughout the Bloomington community. A tentative calendar can be found at the link on the left. Information regarding placement sessions will be posted by August 5th.

Also, please see the information below if you are interested in working for IUCC during the 2013-2014 academic year.

Placement session information for all Fall ensembles will be posted by August 5, 2013. Singers do not need to bring anything prepared and will be heard in the order that they arrive. Placement sessions generally take 10-15 minutes.

*Children interested in First Voices (Kindergarten and First Grade) do not need to attend the placement sessions on the 28th, but should complete the on-line registration process (now available) in order to reserve a spot. There is a limit of approximately 12 singers per class for First Voices. Please contact Brent Gault before you register to see if space is available. (bgault@indiana.edu)

Founded in 1980 by Dr. Mary Goetze and Dr. Jean Sinor, the mission of the Indiana University Children's Choir is to teach young people to value and experience excellent singing through musical activities which develop skills, sharing, self-expression, and personal growth. This goal will result in a lifelong appreciation of fine music.

Position Announcements

Accompanists

The Indiana University Children’s Choir is seeking accompanists for the 2013-2014 season (September-May).  Job responsibilities include:

*Attendance at all rehearsals and performances of the selected choir unless otherwise informed by the group’s director. All groups rehearse on Thursdays from 4:30-6:00 PM with the exception of the Chamber Choir which rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6:00 PM. *Accompanists must have keyboard skills appropriate for both a rehearsal and performance situation.

These are hourly positions that pay $13.00 an hour for undergraduates and $15.00 an hour for graduate students. It is anticipated that on the average, accompanists will work 1.5-3 hours per week. Administrative Assistant

During the academic year (August-May), the Administrative Assistant will:
*Attend weekly rehearsals. Rehearsals meet from 4:00-6:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
*Coordinate parent volunteers for IUCC winter and spring concerts and other events/performances, including the fall retreat.
*Attend monthly board meetings and assist the board with projects related to fundraising and grant writing.

The approximate annual compensation for this hourly position is $4,000.00 The position begins in August 2013.  Submit resume and cover letter to:
