FACULTY AND STUDENT HONORED AT FOUNDERS DAY
Two IU School of Music faculty members - Miriam Fried and Violette Verdy - and one doctoral student - Victoria L. Malawey - will be recognized for their outstanding teaching and research at the annual Indiana University Founders Day celebration on March 6 at 1 p.m. in Bloomington's Assembly Hall.

STUDIO OPERA AT IU

An opportunity to enjoy student staged opera! As the culmination of many years of study, short staged operas will represent the Master of Science in Stage Direction for Opera thesis for three talented artists. With a “soap opera” hospital, a mythical land called Atlantis, and a sandbank near the wreck of an old ship as the backdrops, these productions are as creative and diverse as the artists themselves.

As Spring semester rolls on, so does the wealth of events at the IU School of Music. A few of the highlights in the next two weeks are guest masterclasses from soprano Carol Vaness; Poulenc's compelling opera Dialogues Des Carmélites; the annual Rostislav Dubinsky Memorial Concert; Extensions Of The Tradition, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the African American Arts Institute; the Studio Opera featuring three unique student-produced operas; and the Eva Janzer Memorial Concert with the Indiana Cello Ensemble. These gems and so much more await!
