FREDERIEKE SAEIJS WINS LONG-THIBAUD VIOLIN COMPETITION

IU Artist Diploma violinist Frederieke Saeijs, a student of Mauricio Fuks, recently won the Long-Thibaud International Violin Competition in Paris, October 21-31. In addition to being the overall winner, Saeijs won the prizes for Best Performance of the Concerto, Best Performance of the competition's commissioned work Pour Elia by Marc-Olivier Dupin, Best Performer (voted by students of the conservatories), and Best Performer (voted by the members of the Orchestre National de France).

NUTCRACKER TICKETS ON SALE NOVEMBER 7!

Tickets for the perennial IU Ballet Theater favorite The Nutcracker go on sale this Monday, November 7! Performances will be December 2 & 3 at 8:00pm and December 3 & 4 at 3:00pm in the Musical Arts Center. Evening performances will be danced by Julie Kent and Jose Carreno of American Ballet Theatre. UPCOMING EVENTS

Don’t miss pianist Edward Auer’s faculty recital tonight at 8pm in Auer Hall or Ensemble Voltaire as the guest in the Early Music Institute’s faculty/guest recital tomorrow at 8pm in Auer Hall. The November 6, 2pm, faculty recital in Auer Hall is dedicated to the music of Professor Emeritus Thomas Beversdorf, followed by Concentus at 8pm. The next two weeks also feature the Anchiskhati Choir of Tbilisi November 7, the Chamber Orchestra November 9, the opening of A Midsummer Night’s Dream November 11, the much-anticipated premiere of the Classical Orchestra November 13, and much, much more!
