THE NAMING OF THE JACOBS SCHOOL OF MUSIC

We cordially invite you to join us on February 24 at 4 pm in Auer Hall for a naming concert for the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. This follows news on November 17, 2005, of a most remarkable gift bestowed upon the School of Music by Barbara and David Jacobs, which will be dedicated to undergraduate and graduate scholarships and to the support of school initiatives.

OUR TOWN PREMIERES

The moment has arrived! IU Opera Theater’s world premiere of Ned Rorem’s Our Town opens February 24. As the centerpiece of Bloomington’s ArtsWeek 2006, this promises to be one of the most important productions to take place at the School of Music in its illustrious history! PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT OF 2006-2007 IU OPERA AND BALLET SEASONS

With great pleasure, we pre-announce the 2006-2007 IU Opera Theater and Ballet Theater seasons and give you an opportunity to subscribe to one of the finest collections of opera performances in the nation. Full information, with conductors and stage directors, will be announced on April 7 at the opening night of Carmen.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Cliff ColnotEnjoy the annual Extensions of the Tradition concert February 26 at 4pm and the Chamber Orchestra in Auer later that evening. February 27 offers Brent Wallarab with the Jazz Ensemble and guest pianist Roger Vignoles and IU voice students in a Schubert class recital. Don’t miss guest Cliff Colnot as he returns to conduct the Concert Orchestra March 1 with soloist Kimiko Yamada, euphonium. Two fabulous performances are on tap March 2 when ViVaCe and pianist Edmund Battersby take the Auer Hall stage, and Howard Klug directs the Clarinet Choir in Ford-Crawford Hall. The Trombone Faculty Choir heralds in next weekend March 3. And, you won’t want to miss the Orion String Quartet’s final residency of the year March 5-7. Of course, these are just a few of the highlights in the always-stellar array of events at the Jacobs School of Music!
