| SYLVIA MCNAIR JOINS JACOBS FACULTY |
In what amounts to a homecoming of sorts, IU alumna Sylvia McNair, two-time Grammy Award-winner and world-renowned soprano, is returning to Bloomington next week to join the voice faculty at the IU Jacobs School of Music. | SMITHSONIAN JAZZ MASTERWORKS ORCHESTRA IN FESTIVAL FINALE |
Led by Distinguished Professor David N. Baker, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra provides the 2006 IU Summer Festival finale in a performance devoted to the legendary music greats Quincy Jones and Oliver Nelson. | JAMES MACMILLAN WORLD PREMIERE AND COLLOQUIUM |
Sun-Dogs, the latest work by James MacMillan, one of today’s most successful living composers and an internationally active conductor, had its world premiere this Sunday (August 6)! Sun-Dogs is a setting of a poem with richly allegorical text by Michael Symmons Roberts. MacMillan was present at the premiere and participated in a Colloquium in Honor of Thomas Dunn, professor emeritus of choral conducting. Click for more >>

| JACOBS SCHOOL AT INDIANA STATE FAIR |
The forecast at the Indiana State Fair will be "Red Hot" next Thursday (August 10), when Indiana University takes center stage at the 150th edition of this treasured Hoosier tradition, and the Jacobs School of Music will be a featured part of the festivities. David Baker will lead the Festival Jazz Orchestra in a free concert on August 8, and IU's Moveable Feast of the Arts program, which has showcased university cultural resources across the state, will support many of the 25 performances by 200 faculty, students, staff, and alumni from across the university.
