“SUSANNAH” OPENS TONIGHT! LEADS SHARE THEIR PERSPECTIVES

SusannahBetsy Uschkrat (left) and Elizabeth Ashantavi (right) both sing the leading role in IU Opera Theater’s production of Susannah, which opens tonight and has additional performances Oct. 20, 26, and 27 at 8 p.m. in the MAC. IU NEW MUSIC ENSEMBLE OPENS CUTTING EDGE SEASON TOMORROW NIGHT!

Rothlisberger set for Rigoletto The Indiana University New Music Ensemble will break musical boundaries with its new season that will feature some of the most imaginative and adventurous electronica ever heard, with a unique twist—it will be arranged for chamber ensemble. 2007 GOVERNOR’S ARTS AWARDS CELEBRATES MENAHEM PRESSLER AND TWO JACOBS SCHOOL ALUMNI OCT. 25

Indiana University and the Jacobs School of Music will again be in the limelight when the Indiana Arts Commission presents the 2007 Governor's Arts Awards Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Musical Arts Center on the Bloomington campus. The event marks the first time in the 35-year history of the awards that ceremonies will be conducted outside the state capital. Click here for more>>

The next two weeks offer an outstanding array of musical events to enjoy at Jacobs, including the opening of IU Opera Theater’s Susannah this weekend! Other highlights are Franz Helmerson, cello, and Reiko Neriki, piano, in guest recital tonight (Oct. 19); the New Music Ensemble’s season opener, with guest director Alan Pierson, tomorrow night (Oct. 20); the Pro Arte and Baroque Orchestras, the Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Presidential Inauguration Jazz Concert Oct. 21; the beginning of Octubafest, the Jazz Ensemble, bassoonist Charles Ullery, and the return of the Orion String Quartet Oct. 22.
