JOSHUA BELL BACK HOME IN INDIANA

Joshua BellWatch an exclusive video from WTHR Channel 13 of their intimate interview with world-renowned violinist Joshua Bell. Bell performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra this week and will perform for the first time as a Jacobs School of Music faculty member Wednesday (Sept. 17) in Bloomington when he appears as soloist with fellow faculty member Leonard Slatkin conducting the IU Philharmonic Orchestra.  >> Click here for more.

IU OPERA THEATER LAUNCHES 60TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON WITH 19TH-CENTURY LOVE STORY “LA TRAVIATA”

Indiana University Opera Theater kicks off its fall season, the first production in the 60th anniversary season and the 400th overall production, with Giuseppe Verdi's greatly loved -- and once scandalous -- cross-class romance La Traviata. The opera is staged by noted director Tito Capobianco, a well-known, colorful figure who spent years working with Luciano Pavarotti and was general manager and artistic director of the prestigious Pittsburgh Opera. >>Click here for more.

BASSIST JEREMY ALLEN APPOINTED TO IU JACOBS SCHOOL OF MUSIC FACULTY
Jeremy AllenWidely respected bassist Jeremy Allen has been appointed assistant professor at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Department of Jazz Studies, beginning Fall 2008. IU MARCHING HUNDRED FEATURED AT LUCAS OIL STADIUM DURING FIRST COLTS GAME
Marching Hundred

The Indiana University Marching Hundred was the first college marching band to perform at the new Lucas Oil Stadium when the Indianapolis Colts played their first regular season game Sept. 7 on national television. The band took the field during the Colts season opener against the Chicago Bears. >> Click here for more.

CabaretPrior to the IU Philharmonic opening concert on Sept. 17 (stand-by tickets only available), a free screening of the related movie, The Red Violin, will be offered Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Sept. 15 offers a unique event with many members of the amazing Jacobs voice faculty performing during a “cabaret” fundraiser, Trio Cayenne will perform the evening of Sept. 16, with Ensemble Voltaire in concert Sept. 21 and the Chamber Orchestra Sept. 24. And get your tickets now for the curtain-raiser of the IU Opera Theater season, Verdi’s immensely popular La Traviata, September 26, 27, and Oct. 3 and 4.
