Four new Jacobs Scholars and three new Jacobs Fellows, selected from a large pool of incoming students, began their studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in the fall of 2008.

| CARVING OUT A SPACE FOR REED MAKING |
A much-needed reed-making room takes shape in the IU Jacobs School of Music and is named for Jerry Sirucek and Leonard Sharrow, legendary oboe and bassoon teachers who taught for decades. In addition to The Nutcracker this weekend, several other treats are offered. Both the New Music Ensemble and the University Chorale perform Saturday night, and the International Vocal Ensemble and All-Campus Choir are in concert on Sunday. Strains of the Philharmonic Orchestra will fill the MAC on Tuesday, and the ever-popular Chimes of Christmas visits the IU Auditorium on Wednesday evening.
