Press Announcement
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to
the 2007–2008 IU Opera and Ballet Theater
Season, one of the finest collections of opera and ballet performances in the nation—all at an accessible price for students of all ages and the general public.
In September, the opera season opens with one of Verdi’s most
enduring works, Rigoletto, followed by Carlisle Floyd’s haunting
Susannah and a spectacular new production of Puccini’s immensely popular La Bohème. We usher in Spring 2008 with the collegiate premiere of William Bolcom’s A Wedding before presenting Mozart’s delightful Le Nozze di Figaro and closing with Offenbach’s engaging
Les Contes d’Hoffmann. You won’t want to miss any of these
world-class productions!
Following Michael Vernon’s appointment as Chair of the Department
of Ballet, we eagerly anticipate our 2007–2008 ballet season: Perspectives 1900s, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, featuring new choreography, and A Night at the Opera (at the Ballet).
Your subscription guarantees you the very best seats in the house.
In addition, you’ll receive the benefits of free ticket exchanges (subject to upgrade fees, if any), the privilege to renew your seats from season to season, and free lost ticket replacement. Subscribers are also able to buy single tickets to The Nutcracker before they go on sale to the general public and, for the first time, are being offered a special opportunity to purchase IU Ballet Theater subscriptions.
Thank you for your support and patronage. We look forward to having you join us as we bring you an opera and ballet season of great drama and passion.
Sincerely,
Gwyn Richards, Dean
