Luck was all IU's

The music world has lost another great one. So has Indiana University. Percussionist and teacher George Gaber died at age 91 at Bloomington’s Meadowood Health Pavilion the day before Thanksgiving.

Retired from the IU Music School faculty since 1986, he was one of the stars, many of them now also departed, who made the school pre-eminent in the country and in the world. He told the H-T in an interview a few years ago that “I wouldn’t change a thing. I was very lucky.”

Luck. That really belongs to Indiana University for all those great years. And it also belongs to George Gaber’s students, now so strong in their field, who are left with the memories.
