Jörg Ritter has been the Choral Director of the WDR Radio Choir Cologne since March 2004 and guest conductor since 2002. He studied conducting, choral direction, and lied accompaniment, as well as school music and classical philology, in Cologne and Karlsruhe, and was granted a scholarship by the EU to study in Vienna, where his early mentors included Kurt Moll, Sir Neville Marriner, and Claudio Abbado. For several years he worked as soloist coach and conductor at the Cologne Opera. Mr. Ritter has worked in Germany and abroad as an orchestra and choir conductor with the National Polish Radio Orchestra Kattowitz, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Bratislava, the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Hallé Orchestra, the Dutch Radio Choir, and the Czech Philharmonic Choir, among many other ensembles. He also has performed extensively as a pianist, both in recital and on recordings.
