Definition:
To facilitate communication within structural levels, Komar reserves the
terms prior and subsequent for moving between the various
structural
levels. Prior refers to more background levels, and subsesquent refers to
more foreground levels. Preceding and succe
eding are used for elements on the same level (Komar, 1971).
