Definition:
From Schachter (1987). A time span intiated by a change of harmony at a weak beat within a hypermetric unit. In the four-bar hypermeasure below, the V7 chord in mm.2-3 articulates a syncopated time span. A quasi-metric effect accompanies those two measures.
