Weeks 4-6: Harmonic and tonal structure and reduction

We will look at harmonic structure of and create metric reductions of the following excerpts:

1. Ex. 3: Mozart Sonata K. 283, first movement, mm. 1-10 (see the reduction in the IAT, p. 61)

2. Ex. 4: Mozart Sonata K. 283, third movement, mm. 1-24.

3. Ex. 6: Mozart String Quartet K. 387, first movement, mm. 1-10.

4. Ex. 5: Mozart String Quartet K. 465, first movement, mm. 1-22.

5. Ex. 9: Beethoven String Quartet Op. 18, No. 6, "La Malinconia"

6. Ex. 10: Beethoven Piano Sonata Op. 53 ("Waldstein"), development section.
