Dear Friends and Colleagues:
The Indiana University School of Music and the Eva Janzer Memorial Cello Center Foundation request the pleasure of your company at the Janos Starker 75th Birthday Celebration on Tuesday, September 14, 1999 at the Musical Arts Center in Bloomington, IN.
The celebration's main events will include a concert featuring Janos Starker, William Preucil, Gary Hoffman, Maria Kliegel, and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, with Mstislav Rostropovich conducting the Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra. A mass cello ensemble conducted by Emilio Colón will conclude the concert and everyone is encouraged to participate. Master Classes will be held by Maria Kliegel, Gary Hoffman, and Mstislav Rostropovich. The highlight of the event will be the first ever concert collaboration between Starker and Rostropovich, the two greatest cello figures of the second half of the 20th Century.
For the past 20 years Janos Starker's great generosity has made possible the Eva Janzer Memorial Cello Center's Annual Celebration. Since the founding of the Center, 41 prominent members of the world cello community have been honored, including Pierre Fournier, Antonio Janigro, Zara Nelsova, and Paul Tortelier. This year, as we honor and celebrate the 75th birthday of our founding president, Maestro Starker, we are turning to you for your support.
We therefore would like to invite you to become a founding member of the Honor Roll of the Janos Starker Scholarship Fund.

Please note that tickets for the Gala Concert and Dinner will be available on a first come first served basis.
