Ph.D. Minors for Students outside the School of Music

Minors in music for doctoral students outside the School of Music may be taken within one of the established departments of the School of Music. No transfer credits will be accepted toward a music minor. Acceptance as a minor requires the approval of the Director of Graduate Studies of the School of Music.

In general, students must demonstrate preparation for graduate-level study in music by a bachelor's degree in music or its equivalent. Students who do not have a bachelor's degree in music may demonstrate equivalency by passing the Graduate Entrance Examinations in music history and music theory, described here.
