Graduate Seminar in Latin American Music
MUS-M 690 (3 CREDITS)

Modernism and Post-Modernism in Latin American Music

This seminar concentrates on the stylistic trends that have evolved in Latin American art music during the 20th and 21st centuries. We will also discuss how important popular traditions, such as tango and "salsa, have influenced composers' aesthetic views and writing techniques. While helpful, no knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is required.
