Competition Results/Resultados del Concurso

The winner was announced in the closing concert of the Festival de Agosto in Caracas, Venezuela on August 2nd of 1997. The members of the jury this year were Anton Garcia Abril (Spain), Arthur Kampela (Brasil/USA) and Diego Silva (Venezuela).

Winner: Don Freund from USA with "Stirrings"

Also finalists were:

Robert Bollen from USA with "West and North of Kettleman"
Milton Estevez from Ecuador with "Guitarra...guitarra" and
Julio Serrano Cabrera from Cuba with "Sonata de segundo estio"
