Notice of Faculty Vacancy

 

Latin American Music Center, Assistant Professor/Assistant Director; appointment effective beginning September, 1998.

 

Qualifications

Demonstrated potential to secure international reputation as musicologist, composer and/or theorist with specialization in Latin American art music. Substantial complementary expertise in Latin American popular and traditional musics. Doctoral degree required. Wide knowledge of Latin American music repertoire and research resources expected.

 

Duties

Teach/co-teach classes in the history, repertoire and cultural context of Latin American concert and popular musics, including possible cross-listed courses with the College of Arts and Sciences; as well as courses in cross-cultural and interdisciplinary techniques applicable to music composition and theoretical analysis, with emphasis on the specific contributions of Latin American musics of all streams. Assist the Director in the administration of the Latin American Music Center and supervise its operation.

 

Salary and Rack

Assistant Professor/Assistant Director of the Latin American Music Center.
Tenure tract position, salary commensurate with qualifications.
