and Latin America

The winners of the Fifth Annual Competition in the Performance of Music from Spain and Latin America, which took place at Auer Hall on March 31st, 2002, are as follows:

Open category:

First prize:
María Luisa Rayán, harp

Second prize:
Jorge Montilla, clarinet

Special focus category:

Ailyn Pérez, soprano
Emilio Jiménez Pons, tenor

Honorary mention for outstanding programming:

Omar Hernández Hidalgo, viola

In addition to cash prizes, winners will perform in various concerts organized by the Spanish Resource Center within the Continental US, and in a joint debut recital under the aegis of the Americas Society of New York.
