Carmen Téllez: Teaching & Conducting
in São Paulo
Dr. Carmen Helena Téllez, director of the Latin Ameican Music Centeris in São Paulo teaching and conducting as part of the activities of the Agreement of Cooperation between the LAMC, the Indiana University |Jacobs School of Music, and the University of São Paulo (USP), spearheaded by the School of Comunication and Arts (ECA) and Professor Marcoantonio da Silva Ramos.
Professor Téllez will dictate three lectures, and participate as one of the keynote speakers (with Nicolas Meeus of Paris´Sorbonne, at the First |nternational Meeting of Music Analysis in Sao Paulo (August 20). She will also conduct two concerts with the Chamber Orchestra of USP (August 28 and 30) and a multi-media performance of Orff´s Carmina Burana (September 2 and 3) with IU graduate students Abigail Mitchell (soprano), Daniel Bubeck (countertenor), and Howard Swyers (baritone).
Graduate conductors Mark Doerries and Cinthia Alireti will also attend as production co-designers. Téllez has proposed and designed a concept of the artist in a fascist society. |
